Hello :)

My name is Emanuele Colombo. I’m a professional motion designer and I appreciate your interest in learning more about my job!

Introducing Antimatter

A few years ago I founded Antimatter, an animation collective where I collaborate with other designers on projects that require a team. Think of us as a group of freelancers with the synergy of a full-time studio.

When a new project comes in, I select the designers from our network that best fit the skillset needed. This hybrid workmode allows our team to be a sort of plug-in motion partner to our clients, adjusting and adapting to whatever needs they might have.
Our team includes illustrators, motion designers and animators with a wide range of skills in different softwares. We perfectly adapt to each project, wether we’re working on general motion design and visual graphics, to illustration, moving typograpahy, traditional animation or even UI/UX support.

Here’s a selection of projects that showcase our expertise in motion design, whether in branding, UX/UI or typography animation. Enjoy!

Notion AI Assistant

In the spring of 2024, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Buck’s design team to craft a unique personality for Notion's AI Assistant.

We created a lively, interactive character that reacts dynamically to user actions, offering visual feedback tailored to what’s happening. This project transformed everyday interactions into a more intuitive, engaging, and human experience.

Imperial College Rebrand

The Imperial College rebrand demanded an unconventional approach for a marketing video. The client provided the brand identity designed by Pentagram, which we used to craft a narrative presenting the entire rebrand. This video became instrumental in defining the brand guidelines.

Google Summit  branding

We worked on the Motion Identity for Google Summit 2024, transforming the branding developed by Google’s team into vibrant, dynamic animations.
The challenge was to infuse their sleek visual identity with smooth, tech-driven motion, enhancing the overall summit experience while maintaining the essence of Google’s iconic aesthetic.

The result was a seamless integration of design and animation, elevating the energy and impact of the event.

OP/AL

OP/AL is a free resource that allows users to customize 100 code-based animated icons for ready-to-use implementation.
Here’s a case study of the project, where we had the chance to animate some of the icons.

Whatsapp campaign

Working as part of the team at Hup Studio, we were tasked with creating the mnemonic for the Global Campaign. A mnemonic is a 'device' (image/symbol/glyph) that is used to trigger information. It acts as a vessel for an idea, a visual representation of a concept, like the flag of a country. The mnemonic was going to be the visual core of the campaign.
