OpenAI DevDay
At OpenAI DevDay 2026, Studio Dumbar / DEPT® collaborated with the OpenAI Design Studio to create an interactive event identity that extended motion design into a fully playable experience.
I worked as part of the motion design team on the project, contributing to the development of interactive animation systems built with Rive and integrated into custom arcade games designed for the event.

The project focused on motion design for interactive experiences, where branding, animation, and user interaction were merged into a single system. Instead of traditional event visuals, the identity was expressed through playable arcade environments, transforming the conference into an interactive experience shaped by motion, code, and interaction design.
A core part of the production involved real-time animations created with Rive. These motion assets were integrated into the arcade games, enabling state-driven, responsive animation systems that connected visual identity with gameplay logic. This approach positioned motion design as a functional layer within interactive systems rather than purely decorative output.

The visual system was built on OpenAI’s brand identity and extended into a flexible motion design framework for digital and physical experiences. Inspired by software interfaces, coding structures, and ASCII-based graphics, the system translated computational logic into interactive motion behavior.
This project explores the intersection of motion design, interactive experiences, Rive animation, and event identity design, demonstrating how motion can operate as part of real-time interactive systems.
